Limbering & Tumbling Arts


Limbering is the ability to move, bend, or contort easily, while acrobatics involves performing difficult and attractive body movements. Limbering is an important part of a dancer's routine, as it helps to improve flexibility and strength, tone the body, and protect muscles from damage.



Tumbling, execution of acrobatic movements and combinations such as rolls, cartwheels, handsprings, aerials & layouts on floor mats or on the ground like stages. Tumbling does not involve the use of apparatuses.

Some Limbering & Tumbling Skills Include


Aerials

Side Aerials & Front Aerials are used often in tumbling combining with other other skills, such as Back Handsprings.


Handsprings

Back Handsprings are normally used after cartwheels, round-off's or side aerials as part of a combination. Back Handsprings can be done on it's own and also Back Tuck & Back Layouts can follow afterwards.


Bridges

Bridge is one of the main foundations of acrobatics. This is an important skill which is used in many skills and advanced skills.


Limbers

Acro limbering combines limbering exercises with acrobatic elements such as walkovers to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. It can be a great way to improve dance technique and prepare students for other genres.


Back Tucks & Layouts

Back Tucks & Back Layouts are often the last skill finishing a combination.


Cartwheels & Walkovers

Cartwheels & Walkovers are the main basics & foundations in Tumbling.


Chest Stands & Chest Rolls

Chest stands are a balance involving hyperextension of the spine. Chest stands can be performed with a variety of leg positions and there are a variety of ways to enter and exit the skill.


Valdez

A valdez is a back walkover that begins in a sitting position. A backwards kickover or bridge kickover is a back walkover with a pause in the bridge position.
